Ex-NYPD cop busted in major LI drug ring

A former NYPD cop and a dozen others have been busted in Long Island in a major drug ring that drove marijuana cross country and used an overnight service to deliver it to Suffolk.

The ring also bought the club drug Ketamine from China over the web to distribute it in night clubs in New York City, Long Island and Fire Island, said Suffolk District Attorney Thomas Spota today in announcing the results of a 10-month probe into the lucrative trafficking operation.

Spota said the alleged ringleader is Manhattan businessman Neil Singer, 47.

“Also under arrest, for his role as a financial manager of sorts to Singer, is an ex-New York City Police Officer, Keith Klouda, 37, of Locust Lane in Miller Place,” Spota said

The thirteen face charges for dealing Ketamine from China and marijuana shipped from California.

Over 200 pounds of pot along with tens of thousands of dollars in cash were recovered by detectives during the execution of court-authorized search warrants. Plastic bags of powdered Ketamine were also found.

“This was a joint Suffolk police narcotics squad and district attorney’s narcotics bureau operation utilizing electronic surveillance, including wiretaps,” Spota explained.

Spota said the west coast-to-Suffolk County marijuana delivery scheme used cross-country drivers, or the services of a major overnight delivery company, to transport the marijuana here from growers in California, and occasionally Oregon.

Among the major alleged pot sellers for Singer were Wayne Percetti, 42, of Ithaca Street in Deer Park, and Steven Polizzi, 52, of Carlls Straight Path in Dix Hills.

The other major component of the drug network focused on the monthly purchase – from a website based in China - of approximately two kilos of Ketamine, an animal tranquilizer.
